An Analytical Testing Service

JCAnalysis is an analytical testing service that offers particle expertise and particle characterization tools focusing on nano-to-subvisible materials. It was established in early 2023 with this vision in mind: to provide high quality testing services and particle data translation to empower Scientists in their research studies. This venture originated from consulting at HORIBA Scientific. We saw a need to bridge the gap between small startup projects and interim funding hurdles, specifically, closing the gap that targets non-traditional fields such as nanobubbles, microplastics, and extracellular vesicles (EV's).

By working with HORIBA Scientific Particle Group, we have access to leading particle technologies such as the next generation triple laser Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and laser diffraction. JCAnlaysis provides over a decade of practical experience to ensure an appropriate tool is used to meet your application objective(s).

We are happy to accept just one sample or be your longer term contract analysis option!

What We Do

Simultaneous Multi-Laser Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA):

Measurement Range: 10 nm to 15 μm

Required Sample Volume: 350 µL to 2.5 mL

NTA is an imaging technique used for those who want to know the particle size and count in a given sample volume. The ViewSizer 3000 uses three simultaneous operating lasers to illuminate particles of different sizes, thereby improving the track-ability even when the sample is very polydisperse. By implementing sedimentation technique, the ViewSizer 3000 broadens the upper size range to 15 μm.

Common applications are nanobubbles, Extracellular Vesicles (EVs), virus/VLP's and microplastics.

Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer:

Measurement Range: 10 nm - 5000 μm

Required Sample Volume: Sample dependent

Laser diffraction is an ensemble technique used to get quick particle size and size distribution information from a sample. It is widely used in food & beverages, solid dose drug formulation, cement, metal oxides or battery applications (just to name a few!). We especially like the HORIBA LA-960V2 system because of its wide selection of accessories for measuring wet and dry, high and low viscosity, circular and acicular samples. While laser diffraction does not give you particle count like imaging analysis, it is an outstanding method to get measurements done fast.

Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS):

Measurement Range: 0.3 nm to 10 μm

Required Sample Volume: 2 μL to 1000 μL

Dynamic light scattering is all about the random movement of a nano-particle in a liquid medium (Brownian motion). The analyzer detects how these tiny particles move and scatter light over a period of time and derive its hydrodynamic size using the Stokes-Einstein relationship. DLS can handle much more concentrated sample (up to 40 wt%!) than NTA and is most appropriate for particle 1 μm and lower.
